Context:
During the pandemic, IKEA wanted to inspire people to reimagine their living spaces while bringing their favorite travel destinations to theirl home. Wavemaker and Pinterest partnered to create “Travel A.I.Gent,” a custom AI-powered chatbot that transformed users’ favorite vacation destinations into personalized IKEA-inspired home renovation ideas.
What I Did:
Acted as content strategist, leading brainstorming sessions with the IKEA client team and cross-functional agency partners to define how travel inspiration could translate into actionable home design ideas.
Negotiated and partnered directly with Pinterest to co-develop a custom proposal aligned with both IKEA’s creative objectives and Pinterest’s media strategy.
Designed the chatbot experience to ask users about their favorite travel destinations and the areas of their homes they wanted to transform, generating 64 personalized outcomes across 9 home zones.
Oversaw content development, ensuring each Pinterest board featured IKEA products to help users visualize and act on their renovation inspiration.
Results / Impact:
Delivered an immersive, shoppable Pinterest experience that connected travel inspiration to IKEA product discovery and home renovations.
Generated 2,918 custom boards, 81,469 total pins, and 16,136 questions answered, with an average engagement time of 70 seconds per user.
Reinforced IKEA’s positioning as an innovative, experience-driven brand that helps customers bring creativity and personality into their homes.
Strengthened the IKEA–Pinterest partnership, creating a model for future AI-driven, personalized content campaigns.
